1869-1872: a deed was transferred from Samuel D. Prentzell to James Dickson (Book 6, 291)

 

1872: The house appears on the 1872 Hopkins Atlas.

 

ÒCirca 1870, two-and-one-half story Second Empire style stone double with original double scroll and bracketed wood cornice below slate shingled mansard. Four dormers with decorative wood gables. Segmentally arched brownstone lintels over first and second floor windows and narrow doorsÓ

In 1910, the Bennetts lived in Narberth, Montgomery Co., Pa.  He was 43 years old and born in California; his father was born in N.Y. and his mother in Ireland.  They had been married 9 years.

 

            Dr. Irvin E. Bennett was a physician at the Henry Phipps Institute for the Study, Treatment, and Prevention of Tuberculosis in 1906 at 238 Pine St.  The Institute was founded in 1903 and became part of the University of Pennsylvania in 1910 and a large building was constructed for it at 7th and Lombard St.
