            The 1887 directory lists him at 3310 Race St.  In 1900 they lived at 3308 Race St.

 

1887 Directory: Herman S. Tygert (J. E. Tygert & Co.)

                        J. E. Tygert & Co. (John E. & Herman S. Tygert & Willard G. Price), fertilizers, 42 S. Del. Ave.

            The 1881 Directory lists John E. & Herman S. Tygert living in Delaware, but their business was already in Philadelphia.  The 1887 directory shows John E. Tygert living at 3706 Hamilton St.

            The 1895 directory shows them living in Germantown.

            The 1895 directory lists Jane A. Osborn, widow of Robert, 2221 Spring Garden.  The 1880 census shows them living at 729 N. 26th St.  Robert was a 62 year-old retired carpet manufacturer who was born in Ireland.  (He was 18 years her senior.)  They had five children between the ages of 4 and 20.

“PLATT, Charles, M. D., Ph.D., F. C.  S.:

Physician: born in Montclair, N. J., March 16, 1869, of an old American family of founders and patriots, dating from 1638: was graduated from Lehigh University in 1890, and has pursued post-graduate course at Ohio University, Johns Hopkins University, University of Edinburgh (medalist in anatomy) . Homeopathic Hospital, London, Ecole de Medicine, Paris, and Hahnemann College of Philadelphia. Assistant chemist of Cambria Iron Company, Johnstown, Pa.; chief chemist for Thomas A. Edison at Llewellyn Park laboratory. Since 1894 Professor of Chemistry and Toxicology at Hahnemann Medical College and Hospital, Philadelphia; sometime lecturer at the Children's Homeopathic Hospital, Philadelphia. For some time associate editor of Science, New York. Author of text book of "Qualitative Analysis and Medical Chemistry," fourth edition. 1903. Contributor to the engineering, chemical and medical journals. Fellow of the Chemical Society of London: honorary Fellow of the Society of Biological Chemistry, London; member of the American Chemical Society, the Société Chimique de Paris, the Medical Jurisprudence Society, the Medical and Surgical Society of Philadelphia, and of numerous other medical and social organizations.             He married Moira T. O’Hare, S. Bethlehem in 1891. (Delta Upsilon Decennial Catalogue, 1903)  She died between 1910 and 1916.  In 1916, Charles married Mildred Sellers Almy, the widow of William E. Almy who died in 1901.  Mildred was the daughter of John Sellers, Jr. and grew up at 3300 Arch St.

            In 1917, he was listed at Hamilton Court, 39th and Chestnut. (Catalogue of Delta Upsilon, 1917)

            In 1910, they lived at 3621 Spring Garden.  Anna had 6 children.  She reported her age as 59.  In 1900, she listed her age as 45.  She was already widowed and was living at 3619 Fairmount with all six of her children who were between 15 and 24.  She was the widow of Peter Hogan who was born in Ireland and worked on the railroad.  He apparently died in his 30s between 1870 and 1880.

            In 1900, the Sinclair family lived at 323 N. 22nd St.  From there, they moved to 3519 Lancaster Ave. in 1910 and 323 N. 22nd St. in 1920.
