“3700 and 3702 were built at the same time, c1869, and in a transitional Italianate style very similar to 3701-03 Baring St. behind them. They lacked a few of the more elaborate features on 3701-03 such as the brick window surrounds and the stone belt-course above the second floor. 3700 was later modified with Colonial Revival entries on the front and side, possibly in the early twentieth century.”

Inquirer: “Michael Bradley [sic.], Chauncey F. Sargent, and Harry C.
League, who keep a tavern and news agency at No. 3702 Hamilton street, were
charged with selling liquor on Sunday.
The charge was brought by Joseph Flager, who
was employed by the accused to attend to their eating bar. He saw the liquor sold and to order League
order the bar-keep to sell it. The
accused were each held in $800 bail for trial.” (April 15, 1874)
