The History of the Building

 

3701-19: “Circa 1880 two-and-one-half story Second Empire style doubles; stone facade over brick. First-floor Victorian porches; some altered-(3703, 3705-07, 3709, 3719); four registers, slate- shingled mansard (3701, 3705-07, 3709 asphalt); slightly arched dormer windowheads. All built by the same developer.”

            Henry Augustus Smith was Pastor of the Northminster Presbyterian Church from July, 1864 to 1882.  In 1864-1866, he lived in the home of James B. Ferree at 3404 Spring Garden St.  The 1867 city directory lists him in the home of Rev. K. Berridge, 329 (407) N. 33rd St.  In 1875, while he was Pastor, the new church was opened at 3500 Baring St.  In 1870, Henry and Louisa lived at 3413 Hamilton St.

 

1885, August: Deed transferred from Isaac & Caroline E. (wife) Hazlehurst to Emma C. Granger.
