“Sherman
& Delaplaine, Importers of French. German and English Hatters' Goods, No.
33 North Third Street.-E. C. Sherman and D. S. W. Delaplaine established
themselves here in 1875. They are extensive importers of French, German and
English hatters' goods, being identified with some of the largest foreign
producers, and their trade in this country is extensive and influential. The
premises occupied consist of four commodious floors. They carry a very heavy
stock of fine goods, and the liberal methods and honorable dealing
characteristic of the house render it a very desirable purchasing centre.
Personally, the Messrs. Sherman and Delaplaine stand high in confidence and
esteem of the commercial world, and the success which has marked their career
is but the fitting award of their marked energy and enterprise.” (Philadelphia’s
