            Robert was born in Philadelphia in Oct., 1835.  His 1895 passport lists him as 5'2" and living in Burlington, Vt.  In 1850, he was living with his parents, James T and Mary Ann Severson in Southwark Ward 6, Philadelphia.  His father was a shoemaker.  The 1866 IRS records list him at 308 Wharton St. with an income of $1,210.  In 1900, they lived in Burlington Vt. where he was superintendent of a cotton mill.  Robert and Mary had been married 37 years and had 2 children.

1881, March 8: Land transfer registered from Robert J. Severson to Charles J. Allen (149, 102)

            Charles Allen lived at 3709 Baring St.  In the 1892 Bromley Atlas, Allen is shown owning 3505-3515.

            In 1910, he lived at 3706 Hamilton St.
